The nervous system of
sea cucumbers
Sea cucumbers have no real brain, like many of the other animals described in my articles. There is a ring of nervous tissue surrounding its oral cavity. Also, five major nerve cords run down the length of their bodies. Most sea cucumbers have no sensory organs, though some species have statocysts, which are balance sensory receptors which maintain balance.
